Moving In
We are both moved into our apartments now. On Friday we moved the girls and also a family of 4 who had 20 pieces of luggage (including heavy trunks). It was quite a debacle. First we were waiting for the school bus outside our hotel with all the girls´ luggage, and the public bus riders were quite intrigued. The bus came and 4 employees of the school jumped out to load the luggage while irate drivers behind honked their horns like NYC. Then we had to unload the girls´ luggage along with the family´s at our apartment building while the bus sat in traffic. Again, horns honking and about 50 people stared while waiting for the public buses.
The guys moved yesterday, and it was not quite as dramatic, thankfully. There are 6 apartments in our building. 3 of them are occupied by teachers from the school. 3 girls in one, 3 guys in another, and the couple with an 8-yr-old and 4-yr-old. The owners also live there with 2 kids and Sarah met a nice old lady today who heard the girls couldn´t use their washer/dryer. She provided an adaptar so they are good to go (and they can stop using ours!) So, yes, we will not be washing our clothes with a washboard in a stream out back like some of you thought. Our ¨huts¨ our actually very nice with running water (although not drinkable) and even indoor plumbing. We hope to put together a tour via video soon.
Today is a holiday in the city (not sure for what, but we´ll take it!). We don´t have internet in our apartments yet, so for now we blog from a nearby internet cafe. We also got Sarah to a gym today before she self-descructed in front of our eyes. We worked out for free today, but found another gym on the walk home. I think we will join the second one tomorrow. It´s a 9 minute walk, or a 4 minute run for Sarah, so she is very happy.
Tomorrow the returning teachers arrive at school, so we should be getting into the meat of our orientation. Ryan´s classroom is still being built, but it looks cool so far. Windows make up 3 walls, which means less decorating!
One more note for the ACErs reading. As we sit in this internet cafe, the guy next to us started whistling to the song on the radio: yes, it was Don´t Stop Believing... Thanks for the shout-out.

Good friends,
It is official...Sarah is marrying a computer geek. This blog rocks my wizerald (world)...wow, I can't believe I just said that.
I can already tell that this is going to be an amazing venture for the two of you. Such an opportunity and such a blessing to share in it together. I'm glad that Sarah has a place to get a work out in on a daily basis (I believe I saw a glimpse of what she is like without one in good ol' SA and it wasn't pretty). Ryan, I expect you to stick to your daily 8 miles as well.
I look forward to checking this on a bi-hourly basis for the next year...my thoughts our with you (when I am not thinking about other things)...take good care.
