Gross-Man
I thought it was bad enough that the Bears finally made the Super Bowl and I had to listen to my fiance, the Colts fan. But I never dreamed that I'd be watching at a Super Bowl party in Guatemala City, and I'd have to sit next to a Packers (thus, anti-Bears) fan, of all things! This was a first for Sarah and I to be on opposing sides for a sporting event. I guess the only other possible scenario besides Bears/Colts would be if the Bulls meet the Pacers in the playoffs someday. I'm sure Sarah would suddenly become a big NBA fan.
This post-game photo tells the story. Luckily Sarah was too chicken to make a wager.
So close, but yet so far for da Bears. Dungy and the Colts are certainly worthy champions. You have to wonder if Lovie, Urlacher, and company will bring the Lombardi home anytime soon unless they fix the QB situation. I wish we could trade up in the draft in order to get Brady Quinn.
One side note, Devin Hester fulfilled my prophecy on his opening kick-off return touchdown. Several people can vouch for me and I have the emails with timestamps to prove it. Not that predicting a run-back by the NFL's best return man is such a bold prediction, but I was emphatic about the opening kick-off. Too bad I didn't take some action on it. I think he was 30 to 1 for scoring the game's first TD.
Now that the football season is closed out, it's time to wait out the most boring sports month of the year. Not a bad season of football though. Besides the Bears Super Bowl run, the Irish provided some moments for the ages and I was able to witness one in person. ND's finish was disappointing, but only due to unrealistic expectations. Now, besides hearing those magical four words soon - "pitchers and catchers report" - we must wait for March Madness. I can't wait for the bracket pool, with 2 football pool championships already on my mantle and in my wallet, this is my year.
We have a 3-day weekend approaching, so we are hitting the mountains for a serious biking/hiking trip. Looking forward to breaking in all of our new adventure gear from Santa Claus. This will be an ambitious trip, but as long as my athletic skills hold up better than Rex Grossman's, I should be able to keep up with Sarah.

What about a post re: XELA? If you don't update the Blog we will soon lose interest. This needs to be more interactive. The fans of this BLOG want frequent updates. We want to be able to come to this page and KNOW what you two are up to.
Thanks.
From what I have read it sounds like Guatemala must be wonderful!
Are you guys going to be able to see Bush when he comes to Guatemala in March?
How about a blog on what your classes are like...
Give us a sense of what your school is like and what your daily life is like.

Sorry for the delay Mr. Cade. The Xela blog has finally been posted. It would be nice to see the President during his trip to Guatemala. If he makes a public appearance, we'll have to ask for a ride from our neighbor. Guatemala has indeed been a wonderful experience. Part of it has included getting know teachers from all over North America. For example, it has been interesting to see how teachers from certain arctic places like Minnesota adjust to the tropical climate. For more commentary on daily life and school, see our FAQ blog.

“I'm not quite sure where he's going to go. [It was] kind of a mutual agreement. Guys want to play.”
