Congratulations Carolyn!
Today we want to wish the soon-to-be grandmother a happy retirement! As soon as Kati and Paul announced their pregnancy, Sarah's mom knew it was time to leave one full-time job for another. Carolyn has spent 17? years at Copperfield in Bremen, Indiana. Today the company celebrates her dedicated service and well-deserved retirement (although speculation exists about whether she will be able to completely stay away from the office in between trips to Denver). This testimony from a former customer turned co-worker at Copperfield speaks volumes about Carolyn's talent on the job as well as the generous spirit witnessed by all those she touched during her career...
Now that Carolyn is retiring there is probably less chance that she will be inviting strangers to stay the weekend with her and the family. Once upon a time, many many moons ago, a much younger Bart purchased wire from Copperfield. This young go getter didn’t just want to buy wire, he wanted to know everything about it. From temperature ratings, to UL Styles, to lay lengths, Bart had questions. By this time Rich was sick of talking to Bart every day. This guy called EVERY day, sometimes multiple times per day. Project #1 for Carolyn at Copperfield: take Bart’s calls. Through this virtual hotline, I learned everything I know about wire from Carolyn. Back in the days prior to 100 e-mails before noon and nonstop incoming calls, we had a chance to shoot the bull every once in a while and through these calls Carolyn and I became quick friends. So much so that when Copperfield had one of their first golf outings, Carolyn invited me to stay in her home for the weekend. Since we had never met face to face, you may think that invitation to be, well, crazy! It was! But the invitation was sincere and I accepted. Through Carolyn’s generosity I got a crash course inBremen : Friday night – Bountahn’s for dinner, then a high school football game. Saturday – Breakfast at Karen’s, golf at the Sprig, dinner at the Wyatt Beef & Brew. I didn’t feel like I was a customer being entertained but more as friend who came in for a visit. Carolyn, I would like to thank you and your family for your hospitality (multiple times). You are a wonderful friend and a plethora of wire knowledge. Thanks for sharing both with me.
Love,
Bart

As "yellow" as you were at this job, we know you will be even more of a champion at the next. And even though we know your many future visits to Denver won't necessarily be to see us, we'll be grateful for your presence anyway! Congratulations and we love you.
