As you can see by our sidebar, the countdown is on!  While grading some papers and listening to my favorite radio station (97.3 KBCO) yesterday, I heard "Here is new world-class rock from Coldplay."  (pause... !!!!!!)   As you can imagine, my attention was slightly diverted from the 1040 tax forms my students had filled out (that's another story). 

The greatest band in the land is known for delaying the release of new albums due to Chris Martin's penchant for perfection.  This time they didn't make any promises, that I could find, until now.  June 17 is the day.  Christmas day for some?  Close perhaps, but I'll reserve that for early September if you know what I mean. 

Viva la Vida (Long Live Life) is the new record title - reportedly inspired by Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, not Ricky Martin!  Violet Hill is the first single released.  Download it free now for a limited time only - I've heard for only 1 or 2 weeks [NOTE: too late now, but you can buy it and the epic title track on iTunes].  As promised, it's a new sound, but I can tell you that after a dozen listens, a familiar brilliance comes to light.
