Top of the World
As you know, the focus of our fundraising efforts this year was on field trips. Sarah took her 8th graders on a Confirmation retreat in the mountains. On May 19, I took my current Eagles and last year's Lions up Pike's Peak.
This was certainly the biggest field trip these kids have ever taken. After a long bus ride, we boarded the COG Railway in Manitou Springs. The ride up the mountain was an adventure these students will never forget. As we exited the train at the summit and walked to the sign for a picture, it's difficult to describe the "buzz" as the students took in the awe-inspiring views.
Suffice to say "best field trip ever!" has been a common refrain since conquering the Grand Mountain... as was "this was sooooo worth getting up at 5 in the morning."
