The newest family member
It has taken me awhile to get this information up on the blog but it is worth the wait!

On March 31st, Kati and Paul brought a new life into this world. Carolyn Ann Rothgery was born at 8:20 in the morning. She weight just under 8 lbs and was 20 inches long. Carly screamed for a good portion of her first hour but has turned out to be a rather calm and quiet baby.

Mom, Dad, and baby Carly are doing well as is Big Brother Wyatt. I was convinced that he thought the "baby in mama's belly" was going to be a friend/playmate for him. While that may become true in the future I think he was expecting another version of himself to play monster trucks with. This is clearly not the case but he has nevertheless been quite loving and gentle with his new sister. He likes to help give her a "paci" and has shared toys with her (whether she actually wants them is of no relevance). The best part is that Carly brought him a new bike and her coming meant his Nani and Boppa, Tio and Tia, and Meme and Papa ALL came to see him AND BROUGHT PRESENTS! Plus when your daddy gets to stay home from work for a week there is lots of play time to enjoy!
We're overjoyed to have the newest Rothgery as an addition to our family and are excited to see whether she'll be getting a boy or girl cousin come July.

I can't help but notice the contrast to when Wyatt was born for myself. I wanted to hold him constantly and cuddle his cute little face and tiny body. I feel the same desire to cuddle Carly but with less intensity. Wyatt is at such a fun and playful age and when you walk in and he runs at you screaming your name out of joy for seeing you, it's hard to not play with him and go pick up a baby that can't really see who you are.
I'll just have to continue to do both and eventually we'll all be able to play together!
