Hall of Famer

I've run out of patience waiting for the "official" pictures to arrive, so it's time to offer congratulations.

This spring my dad was inducted into the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame.

IBCA Hall of Fame Class of 2010 (didn't miss a beat with a microphone tie for the occasion)

After a short but controversial stint as a scoreboard operator in the 80s, Herscher High School handed Glen the microphone.  Over twenty years later, he has become the recognized "Voice of the Tigers."  His dedicated service has also branched out to football, baseball, soccer, and track.  While some compared his game-clock operating to Tim Donaghy, his P.A. style has been described as a classy combination of Chick Hearn and Ray Clay.

After first receiving word about the honor, Glen was unsure whether he was being inducted as a player or announcer.  After days of speculation on sports radio, the Herscher Pilot confirmed he would have to settle for Herscher Hall of Fame player honors for now.  At the state level, he would be awarded as an announcer.  Now, he waits with Ron Santo for the call as a player.

Congratulations Dad.  You deserve it!
