Time flies when you are a growing baby...
On Saturday, John Paul turned four months old. We can't believe how fast and how much he has changed already. Four months is a typical time for a well-child check-up with the doctor. We went on Friday and have some updated stats to share.

Current weight: 12 lbs. 11 oz. (10th percentile)
Current height: 26 3/4 inches (97th percentile)
Current head circumference: 16 1/2 cm (50th percentile)
You can tell from those numbers that he not only got his looks but also his metabolism from his father. Because he's a pretty skinny kid and did not gain much weight between his 2 month and 4 month visits the doctor told us we should start giving him some rice cereal. It's common to start this between 4 and 6 months, but we're definitely on the early end of that spectrum.
So, we bought some rice cereal and took the advice to make it with breast milk so that the taste would be more familiar. You will notice in the pictures below that the breast milk did nothing to make it taste better to John Paul. He was NOT interested in eating this stuff and in fact ended up creating quite a mess when he gagged and spit up much more than he could've possibly taken down. We also tried giving him the liquid multi-vitamin drops the doctor recommended. We got the same result.
I think he was grateful when we finally gave up and let him take the nap he was desiring.
Not good- at all!
We had our usual monthly photo shoot with his four months onesie as well as a couple other special outfits. Ryan's mom saved (for ALL these years) two outfits that Ryan wore as a baby. The blue outfit was what Ryan wore home from the hospital as a newborn and the green one is something he wore when he got a bit older. By the time we got to the 4 months onesie, JP was not interesting in getting his picture taken anymore.
I know I look good...
My newest favorite!
Are we done yet Mama?
Last but not least we have a video to share that is possibly the sweetest sound I have ever heard. I remember the first time we heard the baby's heartbeat when I was about 9 or 10 weeks pregnant and we decided that it was a sound that could never get old. I think this might be another one!
Or watch here.
*Yes, I am growling at my child. It worked, he loved it, nothing else matters!

That is ridiculously cute! Oh my goodness, I love his laugh and I love how much joy he brings to your lives. Awesome pictures by the way!
