This week's sign...
It's been a while since I subscribed to Sports Illustrated, so I'm not sure if they still have their "This Week's Sign the Apocalypse is Upon Us" section. I've been thinking of that section a lot this week. Here are two possible "signs" - one serious, one not so serious.
How perverted can Planned Parenthood get? Once again they have their Holiday Cards for sale. The tag line? "Choice on Earth" What a mockery.
Now they've reached a new low. Nothing says "Merry Christmas" like a Planned Parenthood gift certificate! Seriously. What better way to celebrate the birth of the Christ child than a PP gift card? Merry Christmas loved one, thought you might want to murder your child and it's on me!
On a less serious note... outfielder Jayson Werth signed a 7-year contract with the Washington Nationals for $126 million. Jayson Werth! A career .272 hitter is worth 126 million?? Imagine the agent for Albert Pujols as he opened up his morning paper and read this news! What are they thinking?
This overspending seems to be a common trend in Washington. The Redskins: $35M for (now second-string) QB Donovan McNabb? The Wizards: $111M for the (now traded) gun-toting Gilbert Arenas? What is going on in Washington? Do team owners hang out with Congressmen?
