Birthday Fun!
March is a big month for birthdays in the Miller family. My sister and I were both both born in March and we both married men who were born in March. Meema and one of our cousins have March birthdays and now so does Carly. Besides all these, the O'Connor family adds two more with Grandma O'Connor and Ryan's mom joining the fun. Nevertheless, we spend a good portion of this month planning parties, shopping for presents, mailing those presents, and celebrating birthdays.

Since becoming a mom I have determined that while a birthday is fun for the person who is celebrating it is also fun for their mother. The mother gets to remember how all the events unfolded on their actual day of birth. The joy and excitement that first Birth Day will definitely go unmatched, no matter what kind of celebration is planned! Thanks Mom!
I spent the morning of my birthday taking my child to the doctor. John Paul has been battling a runny nose and cough for probably a good 3 (if not more) weeks and Ryan and I finally decided on Sunday night, after the monitor came on every 2-3 minutes because of his coughing, that we should maybe call the doctor. Other than these two symptoms he hasn't exactly been a "sick" kid but we called nonetheless.
He is fine and it is just a cold that will have to work itself out of his system. However, by going to the doctor we got to get his latest statistics as well. I was (secretly) excited to go for this reason.
Currently, at a little over 8 months, JP weighs in at 17 lbs. 14 oz. and is taking up 29 inches of vertical space. **For those of you who like to know the percentages compared to all other kids his age, that puts him at 15% for weight, 82% for height, and a weight-to-height combo in the 3rd percentile. Yes, he is long and skinny like his father- lucky dog!
I ended my birthday with a dinner out at one of our favorite Denver restaurants- Three Margaritas. The carne asada is Ryan's favorite meal and one he notes each time we go as the meal he would eat if he were on death row. They did a nice serenade of the birthday girl which included a sombrero and free sopapillas. JP was very intrigued by all the singers, I think it was the lady smiling at him that was keeping his attention.
Here are some of our latest photos, including my birthday dinner and John Paul's latest "achievements."
