Ready for Kindergarten?!?!

Ryan has been telling me for weeks that John Paul needed a haircut.  I was hesitant.  It's not that I didn't notice his hair hanging down past his eyes or the shagginess that existed over his ears, it's just that for some reason getting a haircut makes him seem less like a baby and more like a "big boy" who is going to head off to kindergarten tomorrow.  JP is my baby, my firstborn, my munchkin and while it is exciting to watch him get bigger and stronger and discover new things, I still want him to be a baby!

Nevertheless, it was time.  On Saturday, Ryan, John Paul, and I, along with Kati, Wyatt, and Carly headed to Cool Cuts for Kids to get the babies their first haircuts.  Carly needed a trim as well and we decided that going together would be fun.  This particular salon is made especially for kids.  It has TVs with movies for kids to watch and special seats shaped like cars and trucks for the kids to sit in.  The car was key for JP.  He didn't mind getting his haircut at all, in fact didn't even seem to notice the lady messing with his head.  He just steered that car all over town! The only part he even flinched at was when she took the blow dryer to get the trimmings off.  Carly on the other hand was not the biggest fan and cried through most of her cut.  But both babies made it through and are cuter than ever.

Stud Muffin!

I have a feeling these two will do a lot of "firsts" together...

Other big events this week were Easter and feeding ourself new foods.  We had Easter with Kati and Paul and the Rothgery clan.  John Paul even participated in his first Easter egg hunt- with the help of his Mama.

He has always been a good GREAT eater but has been hesitant to feed himself many foods because of the way they feel in his hands.  This week has been a big breakthrough and he will now eat deli turkey, cheese slices, strawberries, and cantaloupe on his own.  I plan on continuing to get him to eat stuff on his own but I do feed him baby food as well.  I don't want a hungry baby on my hands.  If he is anything like his mother, hungry baby is not pleasant!

Big Boy feeding himself!

Found a gold egg- it tasted delicious!
