Corpus Christi

Today we commemorate the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ.  In doing so, Blessed John Paul II said the Church "does not only celebrate the Eucharist but solemnly bears it in procession, publicly proclaiming that the sacrifice of Christ is for the salvation of the whole world."

"Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life within you."  ~Jesus

It is beyond tragic that the holy body and blood of Christ has become such a source of division for Christians.  In fact, even most Catholics don't truly believe.  By some reports, as much as 70% of Catholics don't believe in Christ's real presence in the Eucharist, which is the source and summit of the Christian faith.  This would explain any low Mass attendance, because if we did truly believe we wouldn't miss a chance for Mass daily, let alone on Sundays.  Here is a great article on Eating the Flesh of the Messiah by John Bergsma.

Also, here is a great video for the occasion from the Archdiocese of St. Louis.  Chills.
